Penguins

Before we began our topic, we recorded our prior knowledge about penguins. We investigated Penguins because we were amazed that Penguins are birds even though they cannot fly.

We built Igloos using sugar cubes and building blocks wrapped in white paper.

We received a letter from the Penguins.
Why is the Penguin stuck?

How can we rescue the Penguin?
We used playdough tools, grit and warm water to try to save the Penguin.

It was a race against time but yellow table rescued their Penguin first.
At Forest School we found several eggs. We decided to build birds' nests to keep them warm and safe from the foxes.

We have enjoyed learning about birds especially Penguins and after half term our new topic will be 'Castles'.

January 2016

In Gymnastics we have been discovering how to balance on different parts of our bodies. How many body parts can you see each child using?

We read the story 'Room on the broom' and explored making our own magical potions and mini broomsticks.

We had a special visit from Vinnie (Mrs McFarlane's dog). He is only 10 weeks old but he will grow into a very big dog! He behaved very well even though there were lots of little people eager to give Vinnie a stroke.

Floating & Sinking

In the story 'Stick Man' he floated away in the river towards the sea. In class we became scientists and explored why objects float or sink.

Stick Man

We have been reading the story 'Stick Man' and at Forest School we decided to make objects which contained Stick Man. All Stick Man wanted to do was to return to the family tree. Poor Stick Man!
